I am currently a Harry Bateman Postdoctoral Scholar Teaching
Fellow at California Institute of Technology. I was a postdoc at
Virginia Tech from 2022 to 2024. I did my PhD at Rutgers University
from 2017 to 2022. My thesis was advised by Anders Buch.

While I am broadly interested in combinatorial algebraic geometry,
my research has centered around the geometry of (generalized)
flag varieties, and in particular, quantum Schubert calculus and
characterizations of geometric properties via the combinatorics of
root systems.

My email address is weihong@caltech.edu. Please note that I no
longer have access to my old vt.edu or math.rutgers email.

Mentoring

In summer 2024, I was a mentor at PKU Algebra and Combinatorics Experience (PACE), which is an REU program at Peking University organized by Yibo Gao.

In summer 2018, I worked as a graduate mentor for an undergraduate project at DIMACS REU at Rutgers University.

Outreach

In spring 2023, I gave a joint lecture on the Pólya enumeration theorem with Yifeng Huang at the Blacksburg Math Circle.

In 2016, I gave a lecture on the classification of closed surfaces at CSplash, and annual event for high schools students at Courant Institute.
